Match Support Specialist

Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: Match Support Specialist are responsible for promoting positive youth development and improving children’s lives by establishing and supporting the positive mentoring relationships between volunteer mentors and children facing adversity. This includes working with children, families, program volunteers and school staff to provide professional training, screening for child safety, and creating a strong sense of affiliation with BBBS of Salina.


This is a highly responsible program position engaged in the day-to-day case management and support in the BBBS mentoring program. Work involves following the BBBSA Service Delivery Model and Standards of Practice in the area of match support and ensuring overall standard child safety practices as well as the areas of volunteer/child recruitment, enrollment and matching as needed. Position also involves collection of data, assistance in BBBS program planning and inputting data into MatchForce (agency information system) and program support. This position requires some evening and weekend work, as scheduled.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Implement match support best practices as noted in the BBBSA Standards of Practice and Service Delivery Model by documenting and monitoring all elements of match support and supervision.
• Ensure high-level proficiency in applying child safety and risk management knowledge policies and procedures throughout all aspects of job function
• Be proactive and stay current on child safety best practices
• Diligently identify potential child safety concerns for volunteers, children and families throughout the enrollment and matching process and follow appropriate notification procedures as necessary
• Assist with all aspects of volunteer/child enrollment as needed
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with community, school and partners to educate them regarding the agency's mission, promote involvement in agency activities and gain/maintain their support of the agency for youth referrals and family resources
• Program matching according to the Service Delivery Model, including, participant interview, assessment and re-assessment
• Deliver consistent, effective and excellent customer service in a respectful manner
• Ensure all data is entered into MatchForce in an accurate and timely manner. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation.
• Facilitate match meetings in accordance with volunteer’s and child’s schedules
• Conduct match support contacts in a professional and timely manner ensuring adherence to the schedule and method requirements
• Ascertain that the elements of child safety, match relationship development, match retention, positive youth development and volunteer satisfaction are fulfilled and that potential problems and barriers are identified and addressed as early as possible
• Support each match participant to ensure positive youth development experience and a successful, satisfying experience for volunteer
• Establish, monitor and meet goals for match length and customer satisfaction. Utilize Strength of Relationship (SOR) tool, Youth Outcome Development Plan (YODP) and YOS to assess and measure match impact and outcomes for children served
• Conduct child/family reassessments and updates as specified in the Standards of Practice
• Represent BBBS in a professional manner in the community and office
• Provide coaching, support, referrals and other information as needed to match participants
• Assess and refer families for additional community resources and services as needed
• Conduct all required surveys and updates to the Youth Development Plan
• Know and follow BBBS of Salina Program Standards and Policies
• Implement and promote match activities to support ongoing volunteer involvement through individualized recognition, annual events and re-engagement strategies
• Assist in fund development for the agency and participate in BBBS of Salina fundraising activities
• Annual training for child safety, mandated reporting and others required by BBBSA
• Be an ambassador for BBBS of Salina by representing BBBS in a professional manner, identifying and seizing opportunities to recruit volunteers, youth and furthering the mission of BBBS

• Understanding of/experience with youth mentoring
• Familiarity with Positive Youth Development strategies
Youth serving experience preferred.

EDUCATION LEVEL
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in social services, human services, social work or related field preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Routine office environment. Work hours and work location flexible to meet customer needs. Some evenings and weekends.

Pay and Benefits
$14.00 - $16.00 per hour
