POLICE DEPARTMENT
POLICE OFFICER
Application deadline: Until filled-Police Department-Duties: Protecting, serving, & working with Salinas diverse citizenry & enforcing the law while protecting the constitutional rights of all. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Qualifications include: United States citizen; twenty-one (21) years of age at time of appointment; no felony convictions, domestic violence related conviction, or other serious misdemeanor convictions; good physical condition; eyesight: 20/100 correctable to 20/20, no upper acuity limit with contact lenses; ability to obtain Kansas Police Officer certification within one (1) year of appointment. Selection process includes: Examination, three (3) assessment interviews, psychological evaluation, computer voice stress analysis examination, thorough background check, physical examination, & drug screen. Requirements: Must live within 40-minutes response time; must possess valid Kansas drivers license. Successful candidates are prohibited from smoking or using tobacco products at any time, on or off the job. Starting pay: $45,223-50,669/yr. (Full pay range: $45,223-72,276/yr.)

911 DISPATCHER
Application deadline: Until filled-Police Department-Duties: Responsible for dispatching all police, sheriff, fire, & ambulance operations in the city & county; operates a two-way communications system; monitors a computerized emergency system; types a variety of data into a computerized database. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Experience: In-service training program; typing speed 40 WPM minimum. Requirements: Must be minimum twenty-one (21) years of age; must live within 40 minutes response time; must successfully complete in-service training program in communications related curriculum; must pass selection process that includes assessment interviews, psychological evaluation, computer voice stress analyzer examination, & thorough background checks. Hours: Twelve hour shifts from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. with every other weekend off. Starting pay: $16.36-18.32/hr. (Full pay range: $16.36-26.11/hr.) Examination: Mandatory completion of computerized Dispatcher examination. Watch email for examination scheduling.

POLICE SUPPORT SPECIALIST I
Application deadline: Until filled-Police Department-Duties: Performs a wide variety of complex work & clerical duties in the storage & retrieval of department records; checks & maintains variety of departmental criminal files & data to ensure accuracy prior to permanent storage in records management software; ensures data is entered accurately in accordance with state government guidelines concerning criminal activity & arrests information; computes departmental statistics; prepares charts, reports, forms & other documents for departmental use; prepares & releases police reports & official responses to court inquiries; handles public report requests & background checks conducted from local records; performs variety of recordkeeping/ records management duties & related tasks for the department. Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Experience: Requires skills in typing, Microsoft Word & Excel 2010 & other clerical functions. Requirements: Must be able to organize files & effectively retrieve data; must be able to understand mathematical concepts to include basic arithmetic; must be able to work under some stressful conditions & meet deadlines. Starting pay: $13.46-15.08/hr. (Full pay range: $13.46-21.48/hr.)
