Job Title: Maintenance Technician I Function: Plants FLSA Status: Non-exempt Effective Date: 12/04/2018 Family: Maintenance - Plant Pay Grade: 7

GENERAL PURPOSE
Describe the basic function of the job; the reason the job exists.
This position is primarily responsible for properly maintaining and repairing assigned company production machinery, mechanical equipment, and/or property in a generalist capacity, and may include preventative maintenance, welding and fabrication as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This job may participate in one or more of the following duties as directed by supervision or management.
Responsible for maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance of all equipment and assisting in keeping all equipment and facility in good repair to ensure continuous and effective operation as one of the following: production/packaging equipment mechanic, plumber, welder, machinist, fabricator or drafter.
Perform basic maintenance such as locating parts in the manual, changing sprockets, breaking & replacing chains, changing oil in gearheads, PM lubrication, welding rope belting and replacing modular belting & splice with the use of hand tools including drill press, ratchet press and power tools such as power drill & grinder.
Setup and tear down equipment and may assist with major repairs and/or construction required to plant buildings and stationary equipment, fabrication of parts, and installation of new plant equipment
Maintain tools, equipment and supplies to maintain an orderly work area according to policies, procedures, and guidelines; assists and ensures all areas are returned to a clean, neat, orderly and safe condition according to policies and procedures.
Participates in and successfully completes training directed at increasing job-related trade skills as mandated by management/supervisor.
May assist with welding and fabrication of equipment used for processing and packaging.

Performs all duties in compliance with company policies and procedures and in a safe manner according to State, Federal and company regulations.
Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates (if applicable) conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct

QUALIFICATIONS
Summarize the typical qualifications in terms of education, years of related experience and other additional technical/professional/trade competencies of this job. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Two-year degree in specialized maintenance trade preferred.
Years of Related Experience: 0-2 years of related experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of PLC software and ability to perform minor PLC program adjustments on equipment. Basic electrical skills required such as ability to use a voltage/ohm meter, amp meter, using electrical schematic and understanding single phase and three phase wiring.; Arc Flash trained; Basic building skills required such as ability to join PVC pipe, use an electric drain snake, mix concrete, grout tile troubleshoot dock leveler and ability to add/change oil on an air compressor; Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to complete work orders, carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form, and complete required paperwork; Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume; Mechanical knowledge and ability to expand knowledge and skills via on-the-job and formal training directed at increasing job-related skills as mandated by management, including all required OSHA training; Ability to learn basic computer skills, including SAP Maintenance Module; Ability to obtain a valid forklift license; Demonstrated interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate in a professional manner with co-workers and supervisors; Ability to comply with all general safety policies and procedures in accordance with Company, Local, State and Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations. Must be able to lift ninety (90) lbs.
