Fabricator-Laser Operator

Position Summary:
Coperion K-Tron is looking for a Fabricator-Laser Operator and the position will be located in Salina, KS.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
The Fabricator-Laser Operator will assist in the development and maintenance of equipment and processes for manufacturing of products. Operate laser work center safely and efficiently.
Provide programming for Laser CNC equipment, in conjunction with routing for new products.
Schedule laser work to coincide with production timelines.
Pull, organize, and sort sheet metal to be efficiently processed on the laser.
Match laser cut parts to work orders and send to the next production location.
Support shops with programming needs and problem-solving assistance.
Lead efforts in continuous improvement in manufacturing methods.
Write-up and maintain shop routings for standard parts.
Other duties as assigned by manager.


Skills/Experience:
Good verbal communications skills in person as well as by telephone. The ability to read and write in English, and the ability to read blueprints.
Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must have good analytical skills necessary to evaluate and organize workloads and schedules. The ability to handle multiple tasks.
Must be able to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
Must have good coordinating, organizing, and scheduling skills.
Must have the knowledge in the use of computer and other standard office equipment.
Must be familiar with the most common material handling equipment; forklift, overhead hoist, jib crane.
Must have the mechanical ability to use hand and powered tools and have knowledge in the use of scales, calipers, and gauges to test and check mechanically and for appearance quality.


Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
2 years of technical training or equivalent experience. Knowledge in tool design and 3D modeling preferred.
1-2 years experience working with a laser cutting machine.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee may occasionally be required to crouch. The employee may occasionally lift items as heavy as 75lbs. Specific vision abilities may include the employees ability to see near and far distances.
