Trauma Program Coordinator

Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Trauma Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a cost-effective system of care for trauma patients and their families throughout the continuum of care. This position works both independently and in collaboration with the trauma program medical director and other members of the health care team and the management staff. The Trauma Program Coordinator is self-directed and self-motivating, plans and conducts work with minimal direction, and reports the progress as appropriate and requested. This position is also responsible for injury prevention education and activities with in the hospital, and is liaison to injury prevention coalitions and committees throughout Saline County as required by the American College of Surgeons for Level III trauma center verification. Is a liaison to the Kansas Trauma Policy group and the North Central Regional Trauma Council.




◾POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education

•Graduate of an accredited school of nursing


•BSN or plan for completion of a BSN



Minimum Experience

•3 years clinical experience in trauma / emergency care



Required Registration/License/Certification

•Currently licensed RN in Kansas


•Currently certified in TNCC


•Currently certified in CPR (Basic Cardiac Life Support [ARC CPR for the Professional Rescuer] or Basic Life Support [AHA-Health Care Provider]


•Currently Certified in ACLS


•Attended or have previously attended two courses within 12 months of being hired (1) the American Trauma Society’s Trauma Registrar Course or equivalent; and (2) the Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine’s Injury Scaling Course
