The Salina Public Library is looking for an energetic, personable and highly organized individual to develop and execute new programs and enhance existing programs
collaborating across all library departments. This unique position is responsible for
communicating with individuals directly in a positive, professional, and effective manner;
maintaining appropriate confidentiality in all areas. Coordinating and implementing
programs, special events, author visits, guest speakers, receptions, and reading and literacy
initiatives. Working to expand the library’s roster of program presenters. Planing library
events and celebrations, including: conception of idea, venue selection, decoration, food
selection, program flow, invitations, correspondence, vendor sponsorships, volunteer
management, pre and post evaluations, and clean up. Representing the library in
community meetings and speaking to community groups to share and explain the library’s
mission and resources.
Requirements of the job are the ability to relate well and communicate, both individually and
in groups. To adapt and be flexible with changes in plans. The ability to relate well to
co-workers and supervisors. To have an understanding of event planning &
implementation. Have well developed skills in public speaking & presentation. To be
self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
B.A. preferred or three years relevant library experience. Commitment to public libraries and
lifelong learning. Starting salary is $31,335.00 per year.
